Interesting to see the majority have a serial, maybe the battery that comes with the K-5 has one and all previous camera batteries (and solo sales) did not.

Mine does and it's just four after your's, Mike. Did your K5 come from Mifsuds?

Yes indeed, as did the sensor stained one before that ... and the sensor stained one before that.

The battery is from my stained example. Seems like they could be part of a batch, so not a date code.

Actually, now I think about it I only sent back the camera each time ... the box and accessories (including the battery) are from the original body.

Perhaps Pentax sourced a new supplier at some point. The tsunami may have meant a few things had to be resourced to try and maintain supplies.

It's pure speculation....

For what it's worth I have 2 batteries - one from my K7 and one from my K5. One has the number 201012. The other has no number. But - I have no idea which battery came from which camera!!
On a dark desert highway, cool Pentax K5 in my hand.
