The problems that are becoming evident around the staging of the olympics can be summarised by this document. This gives an insight into the mindset of the governing body that is hard to believe and went on with 'our' approval and in the residents of London's case paid for by them.

No short memories here. I remember that 'incident' very well indeed. A training exercise invovled exactly the same stations was going on, on exactly the same day at the same time. The Israeli run London Underground CCTV systems coincidentally not working on that day. I could go on and on about that incident, but here is not he forum.

Indeed false flags are designed exactly to give political leverage for folk to call for more and more security. The propaganda works.

Yup, completely against the spirit of the games and another reason why they are a complete farce

Sorry, I thought we were discussing about security of the Olympic Games and lessons learned from the past is not relevant to this forum

Hopefully we're discussing anything that will be relevant to us thinking of shooting pictures at the Olympic Games.

Personally I won't be as it seems far too much hassle, plus my interest in sport is very limited.

Those who will be shooting images need to be aware of any likely pitfalls, so they can avoid them.
Best regards, John

You're right John, the most sensible thing is to co-operate with the authorities when stopped for inspection and not act as if you're fighting a gun battle at High Noon. In any case I'm sure the Guardians are competent enough to pick up a rotten apple. Regards

Well you were the one that brought it up

But onto photography, I'm with pentaxophile ... Security shouldn't spill over into irrational paranoia about photography. But sadly it has and two major false flags have done enormous harm to the comfort of photographers just trying to go about their hobby.

Anyone wishing to plan a terror attack can just use google earth/google street view or photograph stuff on a mobile phone. or just walk by and memorise it.

There is no sense whatsoever in the war against photographers and it does seem the 'security' industry in particular has bred a bunch of employees who cant' think for themselves

Don't forget they will be very nervous and taking no chances. If they get it wrong and there's an incident it will be case of why weren't you more diligent, not a case of well photographers are OK.

Tensions could well be high.

Exactly. This is why the Leo Straussian teachings are so easy to implement on a population. They've got all bases covered

Here are the NUJ views on the olympics.

Its worth pointing out the press card does not gain you access to the olympics or any special treatment, or make any of the law inapplicable.

There is some very good advise on there..

Not only locked up in the Tower, but they might throw away the key into the Thames.

They'll be looking for every photograph they can get.
Would then blurred camera phone images be accepted by a court, as defense lawyers would claim lack of clarity. I'm sure they would prefer those from an SLR used by someone who knew how to use it.
