Nikon Vs Pentax

Nikon wins every time when it comes to items such as:
1. Availability and selection of lenses
2. General durability of the higher end camera bodies; although see further items noted below
3. Aperture and optics of the lenses
4. Flash options
But sadly missing on most every Nikon product, except for the Nikon AW interchangeable system (quite limited)
1. No WR on the lenses; the camera bodies work perfectly in keeping out water, the lenses FAIL

I thought there was a claim by Pentax that they had a wider selection of lenses for APS-C than any other manufacturer. Nikon wins every time when it comes to items such as:

Their medium format range is certainly better than Nikon
Not used a High-end Nikon for a few years so can't compare, but the build of the K5 and K3 range seems pretty tough and durable to me. Is Nikon really that far ahead?
I assume you mean "faster" when you say Aperture and Optics? Yes, Pentax are lacking in "fast" lenses, but I would have said that some of the DA* lenses are on a par with Nikon, and some are of the opinion that certain FA Limiteds are the best there is.
Yep, Pentax Flash does have quite a weak system

Yep, Pentax Flash does have quite a weak system [/quote] to be honest after having hold of the ks2 and the nikon i would not bother with ether of them
they both have the same feel not the sort of camera to have hold of for long times the grip is to much of a right angle on both nikon are worse
i would opt for a k3

I tried a friends nikon mid range DSLR (can't remember which model) and compared to my K5 it felt like a cheap plastic toy! even my Kx is better built and as for the nikon viewfinder......
I'm sure their 'high end' cameras are better but I wouldn't swap.

What's the problem, are we no longer allowed to link to reviews of Pentax products now? it would seem strange if a mods review was allowed yet another not.How is this thread still here?
Whether you like the review/comparison or not it's still interesting to see other opinions of Pentax.

It was sarcasm Mike..
Knowing how certain mods react when other 'marques' are mentioned/compared here, I was having a dig at the forum, not you.

Yes it turns out there are actually no other camera brands, and comparing them would be of no use to any Pentax owner, if there ever was another brand besides Pentax...

It got a bit tedious to be honest, flippant yes, and not very methodical in approach either.
Best regards, John

Weak, not sure, but... It could be considerably better.Yep, Pentax Flash does have quite a weak system
It is great to have the capability to shoot with a Pentax K3, any of a variety of WR lenses (although the apertures of some of those WR's could be considerably better), and then also stack (hate to do this one but) a hotshoe flash that is also WR - then being able to shoot in the rain. Try that with any Nikon minus the AW1 and see where that one ends up.
Still, the GN's on the Pentax labeled flash units, or some of the other features... Wishing that there would some day be a dedicated module and/or cord for an item such as Quantum
