I also think it will happen, not least because the Americans are saying it will appear in the New Year.

I think it will be great news for Pentax, provided existing lenses etc. can be used seamlessly, and provided the price is reasonable.

A Contax with Kodak back is 16 grand, a Leaf Afi is 19 and a Hasselblad H3DII-50 is 26. What would "reasonable" be for you? I'm thinking $10,000 would be great, but certainly not in my range.

I would hope it would be a bit less. Nearer to the price of the film version (now that 35mm-type DSLRs are similar in price to equivalent film cameras), though depending on which sensor is used that may be an unrealistic expectation.

Yes, the sensor is the largest determinant of price. Pentax has historically competed aggressively for the lower end of the market. The film 645s showed that. But under Hoya I am not so sure.

$10,000 for a true 645 sensor size would be very good in the market. $6,000 would be a bit of a miracle.
