If you get the v230 from Steve who has very kindly offered to provide it and run it it should give you the option to revert to v230

If it doesn't give the option then quite simply you won't be able to and no harm will be done. However, I'm confident that it will work.

You can but try it. I don't have a K-1 ll so I'm not in a position to experiment.

You can look through the comments here link and you will see confirmation that others have done just this. Good luck.

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

Yea you can Barrie. There are a good number of people on the Pentax forums who have done so and if I'm not mistaken (though I could be) I believe the K3 allows this as well.

Any way, if in fact it can't be done then the option simply won't be made available.

Is this just the case because of the 2.40 update issue or can it always be done?

I don't think so but I've not investigated too deeply, from memory I do recall it being done on another camera, a version of the K-3 believe.
But as I say, that's from memory which can sometime let us down.

I should start this post with the fact I am now in my eightieth year and updating my Pentax cameras has become almost an impossible task for me. Is it imperative that I update? My k3ii, K70 and K1 (as far as I am aware) function perfectly with all my lenses both old and new. Advice please. Regards John.

There's an old adage which is as valid today as it has always been; 'If it ain't broke - don't fix it'

No - you don't need to update it.

No, tried just now and it failed, so I have decided to wait for the next update and install that, hope that works.

The big take from this is that firmware updates should be treated in the same manner as Windows updates, which should as a matter of good practice be deferred for a minimum of 30 days pending the fixing of any issues which might arise, firmware update 2.40 being a case in point . The only exception to this which would really be only applicable to Windows would be updates to counter serious security issues.

Just sayin...

Ahh Praise the Lord!

Did you manage to roll back then or did 421 install over 420? Just curious.

I didn't roll back, installed the latest update, don't know what was going on.
