Did you hold the menu button in and then switch the camera on? The update should then download to camera. One word of warnin though, you will need the battery to be fully charged!!

Installing the K-1 firmware on a K-1ii hopefully will never work, if it did, it would likely brick your camera.

No, did not work, tried both SD cards, followed the correct procedure, removed the DCIM folder and no joy. I am not getting rid of the camera.

Latest firmware for the K1ii is v1.30 NOT v1.53.
Are you really are trying to brick your camera? Fortunately the updates have different file names to prevent your mistake.

The firmware is downloaded in a Zip file. Did you extract it prior to attempting the update

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

I did not have to extract the file.

The download file is self-extracting. The following file is extracted. Fwdc###b.bin:"

Yes I am well aware it's a self extracting Zip however, for the OP it's clear something did not work as he was unable to update his camera to the latest firmware. In this scenario it's worth exploring all other options.

The OP couldn't install it if he was attempting to install the K-1 update on a K-1ii with the link quoted by Benz3ne as it links to the wrong download.
