It's really ugly!

The KP wins hands down in that aspect. The K-3 also looks so much nicer. This reminds me of the bloated looking crap Canikon produce.

I had a look at it when Ricoh /Pentax brought it to SRS, and to my eye it's a functional looking camera, and all the better for it.

Seems well proportioned with a good grip, and in many respects very reminescent of the K-5 / K-3, yet picking up something of the compactness of the KP

I do hope, though, that is has a tilting screen, like the KP or like the K-1. I'd even prefer a K-70 swivel out screen than a fixed screen.

Has anyone commented on whether there is a tilting screen at all?

Looking at an enlarged pic., I think not.

Many, many times on the the other forums Consensus from those who have seen it close up is not.

I think some of the other expected features will be interesting...... possibly the first hybrid....SLR with switchable electronic viewfinder.

'Orrible looking thing - and no flip screen? I was looking to replace my K5 but it's looking less likely the more I see.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Two parts to this though, what it physically looks like/what it's got and then what it can do.

Pretty sure that part lower right of the rear screen is just a moulding curve, rather than a point to fold out the screen. I purchased a mirrorless camera recently and I found the flip screen really handy. One of those things you don't realise you would like until you've tried it.

Personally think the whole knob just for stills vs video selection seems a bit overkill.

Moving on to what it can do, Pentax have enough parts and concepts around to put the likes of KP high ISO quality into a package with the K-3 burst rates. That alone would be pretty powerful and is what I'm expecting this camera to be.

Again though, personally I'm looking for more. I want Pentax to address the achilles heel points it's been dragging for a long time now.
That's AF capability (especially object tracking) and video specs. If they're not touched then this feels like another standard/incremental progression, and as others have commented doesn't really justify the expense to upgrade.

All speculation at this stage, but interested to see what the bring to the table for the first camera of this new decade.

The recent Pentax DSLRs have articulated screens, so it would seem ludicrous not to include the feature in a new flagship body. After the techno-gymnastics of the K-1's screen, it wouldn't be unreasonable to consider that the Ricoh-Pentax engineers might have produced a neat and ingenious flush-mounted pop-out articulated screen, perhaps released by the top-left button.

Personally I think that in the looks department this camera is a winner.

I won't be upgrading from my K-3 any time soon but am certainly interested in what this camera will have to offer. Not having a flip-out screen will definitely be a bad move.

The idea did occur to me. I hadn't notced the unmarked button on the left. Very neat if it is.

I note the sensor below the eye piece which presumably switches off the screen if your eye is at the viewfinder. Hopefully that will improve battery life.

Edit:
P.S. The unmarked button may be the flash since the usual flash button has a padlock icon. Any ideas?
