Whilst I prefer to buy gear from SRS, Amazon UK are advertising the KP at £539 this morning.

I don't think it's oldhats' link - the forum software automatically makes certain words like Amazon into links.

No, the hyperlinking wasn't me.

Looks like the original price is gone now (sold out ?), but £582 is still not too shabby.

I wonder why they are offloading them? Is the new one about to land?
I also saw their price for a battery .... £62 !!!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

It's strange. The price has been going up and down for weeks on Amazon. Down to £539 and then closer to £700 a few days later, but only for the black version. I would not be surprised if they were not UK sourced. Certainly Sigma lenses sold on there do not benefit from the extended 3 year UK warranty. Dealer prices are pretty stable by comparison which suggests that a replacement is not in the pipeline at all. Isn't the next model going to be the K-new, replacing the K3ii?

Whatever, the KP is a superb camera.

Amazon: Black KP £554.37; Silver KP £800.97; Silver KP + grip £997.97
SRS: Black KP £949.00; Silver KP + grip £799 ('free' grip)

I don't understand either. But I'd expect Amazon's prices to be determined by a computer algorithm that uses things like supply price, recent purchases, stock level etc., and the algorithm might be a bit wobbly when small numbers are involved. SRS's pricing algorithm is presumably in Chris' head, from what he says on this forum it depends strongly on the supply price, and not being a computer Chris doesn't change prices at the drop of a hat.

Ours is not to reason why, ours is just to look and buy.... (or in my case, not buy).

Yep it's a stupid system but it's nice when it works well (K-70 for £200 odd a couple years ago).
