I think this is down to the MZ6, MZ7 and *ist film bodies.

The MZ-6 can set the aperture from the body, the MZ-S can't. To set a specific aperture on an MZ-S you need a lens with an aperture ring.

I might be wrong, but I thought the *ist had the crippled mount? I know the FA J lenses were introduced to go with it.
It would explain why MZ6s don't turn up in massive numbers, as they're clearly very flexible cameras and their owners don't want to let go.

Yes, but the *ist will control the aperture from the camera body. It's actually a relatiovely sophisticated feature set, although it wasn't on the market for long.

PZ70 arrived today. Looks good, like a mini DSLR! (Actually scratch that, it's slightly bigger than my K7...) It's kind of ugly but in a cool way!
Should there be slight 'give' in the film door? When I push it it moves by about half a mm. Not sure if this is normal for plastic SLR cameras.

I think that's normal, my ist* has always done that and I've never had a problem.

I know I'm late on this, but my MZ30 and MZ50 can set the aperture from the body,I've tried using my DA40, which I've used on the '30, so I suppose my MZ10 would as well.
As far as I knew The MZ models were designed with this in mind.

I think the MZ bodies were a mixed bag. AFAIK the MZ-10 has a full KAF2 mount (to use Av, turn the aperture ring), although mine needs a new focussing screen before I can give it some exercise as it has slightly too many marks for my liking.
The MZ30/50/60 all had the crippled mount so can set aperture from the body.

I have a duff MZ5n that I was going to ebay as spares or repair, I would assume its the same screen, make me a sensible offer and its yours, or I could just sell you the screen and save you some postage

I have my MZ50 on ebay now, along with lens and 2 twin packs of new batteries. It does have Av mode as well as Tv and manual and picture modes. I think most of the MZ series do.
