MZ6/7 or PZ10?

MZ6 is a generation newer - I suspect the AF will be better. Might be worth checking battery prices though - I seem to remember they were much more expensive with the MZ series than the PZ series.

I think the PZ10 was sold as the Z10 in the UK?
Have a look at the Dimitrov K mount site to compare specifications. Personally I'd want the MZ6 as it can be programmed to leave the film leader out (handy for those of us with Agfa Rondinax dev tanks).
Don't worry about batteries by the way - Pentax made a battery grip to allow the MZ series bodies to run from four AAs.

Yes, Z10, that's the one!
The battery issue is a good point... CR2 batteries are about half the price of CR5's, which I note the Z10 takes. Presumably it needed more power for the power zoom. MZ6/7 it is then! I quite liked the 80's looking Z10 but perhaps the MZ6 or 7 would be better - they also have AEL which the Z10 lacks. I have always found that an extremely useful feature.

Some of the MZ series also support power zoom (although only the powered zoom and lens retraction functions), not entirely sure which but obviously they have the extra contacts.
I could still do with a new focus screen for my MZ-10, although I'm avoiding spending anything for a month or so as I'm saving for that Tamron 70-200mm f2.8!

CR2's used to be around a fiver apiece but the price has dropped considerably, I've seen them for £2.50 or less.
EDIT: thinking about it you should ba able to pick up a grip for the MZ6/7 at a reasonable price, then you could use AA's

I have a recently purchased MZ7 and think it is very decent for the money they go for. Would like an autofocus prime (much to expensive!!!) but the 28-80mm zoom is surprisingly good. Even when using really, really cheap film!
K5, K200 and several film Pentax cameras!

Funny enough i'm after this camera to use my af prime - the DA 35mm. I was under the impression this would work on my P30t camera but with the aperture wide open. Unfortunately the aperture is stopped right down which is obviously not as usable!

It certainly should work on a P30/P30T in program mode, you'll just have no control over the aperture (and won't even know what aperture it set!)
I'll try it on my Super A now and see what happens, watch this space.
Right, tried it. The Super A was able to read the aperture from the lens and presumably set it too. I can't see why the P30T wouldn't manage this.

If they offer shutter priority auto then you can force the use of the desired aperture by changing the shutter speed, a bit of a kludge but it seemed to work on the Super A just now.

Yes it will, but there is no way of knowing what aperture is being selected!Won't it work on your P30T in Program mode?
Second hand film bodies are so cheap it seems reasonable to spend £15 on a body which will work in Av mode, and even has autofocus!
