looks good and quite professional. Are you going to start on the K7 next?

No...I think I'll avoid trying to repaint DSLRs as I wouldn't be convinced they'd still work afterwards! If I see a cheap scruffy K1000 I might give one of those a similar makeover (maybe a black one, as Pentax never officially made a black K1000).

This is now next in line for film testing, after I finish the roll in my black ME Super and replace the light seals.

Yes! - It looks great! - You can be pretty sure there isn't another one like it in the whole, wide world.

By the way... I already beat you to a black K1000. Did it last year, but it was one of the plastic Chinese, ones.... Didn't turn out well.

I'm in an odd position with K1000s. I already have one, it's the all-metal Hong Kong made type (so probably one of the first batches to be made after they moved production there, judging by the serial number) and it's far too nice to respray. I'd like an original Japanese-made one (to complete the family set of K-bodies) and then a scruffy HK-made all metal one to respray black.

Very nice! Now you need a matching hippy strap to complete the ensemble

Watch the canikony users 'double take' when they see it.

Just tell them it's the new 'K5 MES version' and watch their brains boil in confusion.

Nice job by the way..

Stunning

It would be very interesting to know how much that would fetch on ebay, not that I'm suggesting you part with it.

I'm thinking about a simple lanyard/wrist strap for it, I've put one on my black ME Super as I want to use that as a pocket camera with the 40mm lens, so a full strap would be a pain when it comes to stowing it away. Wide straps always seem a bit daft on the M series as they're bigger than the camera!

I'd probably have taken a little more time over it if I was making one to sell - I will be intrigued how well the paint will stay on as I just rubbed the parts with 240 grit paper and then sprayed them orange. It isn't perfect, there are a few chips here and there but it looks decent enough from a distance.

Check ebay for a lanyard/wrist strap, the chinese do them in all sorts of colours and you may find a matching one.

EDIT

Just found this LINK that may be of interest.

They look a bit flimsy for an SLR... Even a little one, like the ME Super.

The wrist strap from an Olympus Trip might do, tho'. I have a couple, somewhere. - If you want one, and if I can find them, I'll send you one.

I'm going to have a nose in GO! Outdoors when I'm next down there, see if they have anything suitable. The one attached to my black MES came with a Maglite accessory pack, so it's about the same thickness as the standard M-series strap. I don't plan to dangle it from my wrist with a big zoom on the front for obvious reasons!

You could make one from 4mm cord from the climbing section at go outdoors. They do nylon cord in lots of nice colours.

Good idea!

I've just found an MV in a box, a little grubby but could be a candidate for a paint job.

Lets face it, MVs are boring in black sooo....

Only snag with an MV - will you really want to use it afterwards? I find the lack of shutter speed display on these and the MV1 very difficult to cope with, even though I generally use my MES in Av.
