Leaning pic's with the K10D

My images coming from the K10D is leaning to the right.

Checking and a straight line (horizon or whatever) in the veiwfinder on a tripod and shoothing dead straight results in a leaning picture. This issue came up on the Swedish forum and it seems that qiute a few camera bodies suffer from this as the repair deparment in Sweden has gotten a lot of retuned K10D bodies due to this.

Anyone here who recognizes this here on the board?

I have taken one or two shots where I did wonder if the sensor wasn't square, and thought perhaps there are occasions when the sensor doesn't sit 'square' after its been moved by the Shake Reduction?

maybe they left the shake reduction on whilst shooting from a tripod?

I've noticed a few times lately that shots I thought were square in the VF have come out leaning, I thought it was just me being dumb

Now you come to mention it...
But I always thought it was my spectacles and the angle of view into the VF creating a parallax error (had similar behaviour, especially when working under pressure, on the *ist-D)

I have this problem from time to time however with me it's by no means unique to the K10D or even to digital. I used to like the panoramic viewfinder lines in my Z1p and Z50p and they were in just the right place for the horizon when composing using rule of thirds.

I figured there would be a couple of you guys who had the same issue.

SR on or off, this is how it works for me :

If I place the camera on a flat surface, like a table, looking in the V/F at something that lines up, like a window, then the window looks to be leaning to the left in the V/F.

Then, if I fire a shot, the pic´ (window) comes out straight.

So, the sensor is sitting ok in the camera body, but the V/F (focusing screen image) isn´t. No wonder the horizon doesn´t come out straight.

Darn, every building, tree or whatever came out leaning to the right.
At first I thought I was getting a poor photographer here and I didn´t dare to tell anyone...

I have noticed a number of really nice shots have dipped the horizon to the right on my DS. thought it was me but perhaps...

I would love an explanation and a way of correcting it

What I have noticed a couple of times is that I simply pushed the camera down a little whilst pressing the shutter release button.
On my DS I have never had a slanted picture when using a tripod.

I´ll be sending the camera to the Pentax workshop for fixing. I really cannot stand it, now that it has become clear.

Seems like I´ll be shooting RTS, Planar 50/1.4 and Velvia to capture the fall colors this year... I can live with that.....

Took 250 pics tonight and a couple of times I thought the viewfinder was out of focus with a strange double image of the lcd panel at the bottom - forgot to take my specs off!

Now I feel a lot better (almost).

I've been seeing this loads of times and thank goodness that Picasa is so easy to sort this out quickly. I kept thinking that I was not holding the camera still enough and making all sorts of lame excuses (any excuse to buy a decent tripod!)

I actually thought that a heavy drop into the boot of the car inside a protective Oyster bag may have been the reason but now (somewhat) pleased to hear this seems to be common.

Concern is now that I purchased the K10D in the U.S. so I guess Pentax won't look at it in UK for me (or will they? - serious question).

Reading again some of the comments on the post, you are right I had the same issue with my trusty DS as well.

Someone please put me out of my misery:

Can I get it fixed by Pentax in UK?
Is there something I (we) are doing wrong?
