K7 rippoff
They clearly state "pre-order" and "Due Mid June '09"
Also Juli is the date that I've heared it will be here so am I missing something here or will the UK be later then the rest
SRS and and Park Cameras (along with others) may get stock earlier due to being Pro Dealers...

Pentax user since 1978, Digital since 1997.
Kit includes: K-7, K20D, K10D, *istDS, full set DA* lens, etc
SRS is saying arrive in June - this would be about the same time difference as between official K20D announcement and the first availlability in UK.

£1199 at that price i'm definitely moving full time onto nikon when the K200D dies of death. I recently payed a good price for D300 and its a fantastic bit of kit. forgive my being presumptuous, but i cant see the K7 being as good as the D300, when you consider the cost of the D300 is the same or less depending on where you shop. and thats with the 2 prices hikes by nikon this year!
Also the D300 is due for the chop with a newer version soon.

I've been saving up for a few months to buy my first digital SLR and really want to buy into the Pentax brand (a million good reasons for not wanting to choose any other) and I'm a bit put off by this approach

If I did want to move back to Pentax it would just be nice if I could get short fast primes at Nikon prices.
I do miss my FA135mm F2.8 though.
Probably stating the obvious, but it seems to me that a price increase across the board and launching a very expensive new product whilst discontinuing their reasonably priced mid-range product at the same time isn't exactly the smart thing for Pentax to do in the current economic climate.
No matter what the economic climate if you are making a loss due to the increase in costs and fluctuation in currency you aren't going to be around long unless your increase prices.
I still think they should do the K-7 as a loss leader to get people interested in Pentax again though

Actually maybe they should give a decent trade in price to any D90/40D owners and above
Stefan,
June comes BEFORE July.
