Looks very much like it. What is the serial number and date of manufacture camera? (you can find that out using photome).

WEX = Warehouse Express, they should change/refund it easily enough.

There were posts on Pentaxforum which indicated that cameras with a production date up to calendar week 49 are affected.

Pentax then solved the problem and cameras shipped from calendar week 50 2010 were free from the string of pearls.

Return it to Warehouse Express stating not fit for purpose and claim a refund/replacement.

Hey no problem. Its a lot of money to pay to get a camera with a 'defect'. I think the cameras with serial numbers beginning with 39... are ok.

Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Well I called the company and I have been assured that there in not a problem sorting this out that Pentax have allocated replacement stocks for this eventuality and this k5 will be collected on Wednesday and once it has been inspected to ensure its not a dust problem a new camera will be sent out....couldnt say how long this takes.... hope it isnt too long though.
We will see. fingers crossed

Now that the Christmas/New Year rush is over, and SRS have stock again (as of Friday!) I have finally decided to get my K5 swapped (for sensor stains). Partly it was also that I wanted to wait a good while, to make sure I didn't get a replacement which still had stains. My shutter count is up to about 2k now, which almost feels like I was given 2000 free shutter clicks

SRS being the awesome shop that they are sent Parcelforce to collect it this morning and will hopefully get a replacement out to me in the next few days.

My one was collected on a Monday and I had my new one with me on Wednesday. Should be the same.
I had 1500 free clicks on the 'old' one but I got already 350 clicks in 3 weeks with the new one
Kind regards

I got my (spotless) new K5 yesterday morning, so almost exactly a 48 hour turnaround. Many thanks to Chris and everyone else at SRS, brilliant service as usual!!!

My new one is a much later serial number beginning with 39.

Now to figure out how to set the image count to 2000 so I don't muck up my filing system...
