Well have now had time to play with my lovely new k5
set it to f16 shot at white background and can not see any blobs...i think there might be one dust bunny but hopefully will clear as i use it.
first impressions are very good indeed.

Can't see anything, even with the circles pointing them out.after cleaning mine thought it was clean , the blue ones dead pixels i think has in every photo if i look for it, run pixel mapping still there, the other his a tiny stain , this his at f32 am i being over zealous has cant see it in photos but bought a macro will that be a problem ???
I shoot a lot of macro and never go over f22 (and it's very rare I go that far) and to be honest those wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
May be wise to keep an eye on them but I would be ok with that.

Just got my K-5 from SRS today (Parcelforce were running a day late unfortunately) and it is clean. Interestingly, as mentioned in other posts, the serial number on the box did have a large letter 'O' preceeding it written in pen. (As others have said this may indicate that it had been checked for stains and is an extra Quality Assurance mark).
Can't wait to get out and about and start adding further to my lens range. I have already purchased a DA 16-45 (Cheers Mike.P) and I am looking to add a couple of primes but until then I am looking to fully evaluate the DA 18-55WR kit lens.
Anyway, before I go off topic, BIG thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread as it has helped me out no end... Hope that you all soon have your issues resolved and a very happy New Year to you all.

Pleased to say mine arrived this morning too (a day later than expected.)
After charging the battery, which seemed to take an age, a quick check for staining hasn't revealed anything immediately obviously wrong so hope it is fine. It's a 39 series camera with a rubber stamped 'O' on the camera's bar code sticker on the box.
Initial impressions look good with some simple features other cameras would have found useful like the lock on the mode wheel. How often they have changed their settings all by themselves on other cameras!
Despite being familiar with a GX-20 there is still a lot to look into before feeling fully at home with this one.
I'll try to take something more interesting than a blank piece of paper tomorrow!

Camera still seems fine. Weather outside uninspiring so carried out another sensor check. Really did think I had an issue with it for a moment until I moved the image around the monitor screen and the marks stayed put! Phew! Just a couple of little splashes on the monitor screen looking just like sensor splashes.

Just got back from a 4-day break and am livid!
Got my replacement K-5 on 30th December, a day before I left.
The one I sent back was a 3865*** model and the replacement is a 3822*** model! It was clean, had a shutter count of 0, but some of the menu settings were non-default, so I was a little suspicious??
Can the shutter counts be reset and if so, is that not akin to a car dealer 'clocking' a motor??
Anyway, my experience with the K-5 was totally spoiled by the fact that the rear 'e-dial' is so intermittent and struggles to set my apertures and other settings/playback zooming etc. I got so frustrated with it, that it went straight back in my camera bag on more than one occasion.
It's so annoying....I had to wait 3 weeks for a replacement, due to no stock, than no Parcelforce collections and then the Xmas holidays. In the meantime, I didn't use my original K-5 out of the house. So, to eventually receive an 'older' replacement, which doesn't work adequately, is a bit galling!
SRS state that it is a brand new camera and they are not sending out 'refurbished' items....I'd be interested in what other people think, considering everyone here seems to be getting 39***** serial models!
So, I've now ordered a new replacement....but I'm afraid it will probably be my last transaction with SRS...they had over £2200 out of me over the last 3 years...but my trust in them has evaporated.

Stopher - have you discussed this with Chris ?
I think it's rather unfair to let off steam here if you have not talked with him
