Damned, the French shop offering the K5 for 899€ back-pedaled, and raised its price from 999€ (with a 100€ cashback) to 1099€ (without mentioning the 100€ cashback anymore)...
Someone in the shop must have been spanked hard for this!

Having lived in France for six years I have some advice. Never buy anything in France. Customer service is an alien concept here.
I would not hesitate to spend a bit extra (actually France is usually more expensive anyway) for good service and peace of mind. Having had some (ongoing) bad experiences I will definitely be going to SRS for my next new purchase, that is if Pentax ever supply me with a camera that actually works properly.

It's funny you say that as every Pentax I've owned has had to go back for one thing or another , even this KM had to have a New board fitted

Hmm. I think I need to talk to Chris, though my purchase won't be until beginning of December. Though that's also only 6 weeks away....

Originally Amazon said October 18th. In the US they said October 17th, and even shipped a few out. Now both say November. I assume the ones they shipped are pre-release models, with the wrong firmware. It all very odd imho.
It is however what I have come to expect from Pentax. Mid October invariably means Christmas if you are lucky. I just hoped this time would be different.
Now if they will get on and release the compacts, I might, just might, forgive them. But even they are only very sporadically available, and I really don't want to get one from some unknown internet store.
At least a compact would mean I could get out there and get some piccies.

Okay, seems like there are some cashbacks coming soon...
- 100€ cashback for the K5 body only.

Last news from some Phox shops were that K5 body only will be at 1049€ (949€ after cashback), and 18-55 kit will be 1069€ (919€ after cashback!!!).
Yep, they pay you 20€ for taking the 18-55WR...

I'll believe it when I see it. I doubt the cashback will be coincide with the launch.
The lowest body only price I have seen here is €1112. There is one shop which claims to have it in stock, for €1149. I've sent them a mail .

Phox don't seem to sell online - so you would need to visit France to buy one - which puts the price up, even from Kent.
