Greetings one and all,

I recently have purchaced a shiny new silver K-5... Nice

However it seems to have deveoped a few problems....

The suhtter mechanism will fire randomly, but not capture an image sometimes its a multiple firing sometimes single.

In other instances the shutter mechanism will fire (again without capturing an image) on pressing ANY button.

If the sutter release butting is 'lightly part pressed' the mechanism will continue to keep fireing very rapidly untill the button is released.

The firmware version is V1.03

Has anyone encountered this or a similar problem, when your camera has behaved MUCH differently than expected.

ANd does anyone have any idea whats wrong And how to fix the issue

Many Thanks for your help

Mmm, is this another issue with the K5, Perhaps my decision to hold off for another couple of months is justified?
We had sensor stain, then af under tungsten light, and now this, such a pity for a camera that should be sweeping the board.

You're easily discouraged guys!

I wonder whether this is something to do with the LV button being accidentally pressed, in which case the mirror will move upwards without taking an image, to allow continuous viewing.

Keeping an open mind, but from what I've read I'm not yet convinced this is not operator error or third party battery related.
Fingers crossed thats all it is ...

Like operator error or a third party battery could result in the camera firing the shutter using ANY button?

I somehow doubt that myself.

To my way of thinking Pentax rushed this camera out to beat the D7000 release and they are still paying the price.

I think the K5 is likely to have a few firmware releases, Mike's probably hit the nail on the head - a bit of a rush job!!

You only have to look through these forums to see that operator error accounts for all kinds of "faults". Looking at the other site though, with posts from folks with a count of more than 1 post I kinda think not, but there are all kinds of "different" folks out there that ya never know ...
