I regularly spend huge amounts of money in Calumet and don't really care in the slightest that they don't carry Pentax because I don't actually need to buy the latest models as soon as they appear in the deluded belief that they will make my pictures better or that they have some feature that I haven't been able to live without. What Calumet do have is a fantastically helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgable staff, a bit like Jessops in Sauchiehall Street.Well - if you are wanting to buy Pentax from Calumet - you don't get much choice

Norwich was still open , but the staff had no idea what was happening. When I went back a couple of hours later they were starting to empty some of the cupboards so the end looks nigh. Amazed at the number of people still buying at full price, though.

Oh Calumet is great for other than actual Pentax stuff - I'm in total agreement there Staff are brilliant there.

Must be my age but forgot about them! How could I as I have bought a number of old prime lenses there. A real photographers shop. I think however that only having this one in Edinburgh is pretty sad.

Looking under 'cameras & lenses', rather than just 'digital cameras' does expand the selection - not a huge range but at least it has 22 items. Certainly better than our local Jessops at any time in the last 5 years!

RUBBISH!
Not everyone has a smart phone because their stupidly expensive, and anyway, a smart phone cant compare to an SLR. The sensor on a phone is nowhere near as good, and the battery always dies just as you are about to take that wonderful shot.

Just back from shopping trip to Burton. Jessops appear to be open as usual with just a small poster at the back advertising a sale (quite normal at this time of year, all the other shops in the area doing the same)

My phone doesn't have a camera, it doesn't even do texts properly, it usually manages to produce stuff like "tshy diwd lsjddm swbsdhs" whenever I try to use it which probably accounts for why I get no answers

My gosh, another one bites the dust and we're not even half way through this recession. My high street is starting to look very bare now. I wonder how it will look in 2 years time, even the online retailers will be feeling the squeeze by then.
If you add 6x Mobile phone stores, 12x Coffee shops and 8x Barbers, you're nearly there!
Nearly forgot 4x nail bars!
