iPhone or Google Nexus?

I quite liked my i-Mate (HTC), as I was able to write on the screen faster than those blasted fiddly keys I now have on the Crackberry. No choice butt - work supplied.

My wife likes the touch screen on the i-phone, more so for its intuitive way of working, and its high visibility. She had real difficulty seeing a standard sized mobile screen showing regular text.

I think you need to think a bit differned here Tim.Yes the iPhone 4 might become to be the most selling model to have video calling but a lot of smartphones almost all of them have video calling and all of them together they are in a big number, I don't think the "few" iPhones 4 make a huge difference.

I never had a problem with tethering so it wouldn't be a problem for me.
I'm using t-mobile if you want to know and they also allow skype and such on their phone over 3G network.

I believe the EU decided a phonenetwork provider is only there to deliver a connection and they can not decide how the user uses his network but I could be wrong though.
It was about if providers could block VOIP on their network and I believe the conclude they couldn't.

Basically, when I upgrade to a new iPhone 4, O2 will remove my 'unlimited' data allowance, as they are not now allowing iPhone 4 users to have an unlimited internet service.

As Steve would say "I'm p*&^%d off!'

What about other providers or do they have an exclusive deal?

Not wanting to follow the herd, I bought a Nokia N97 a while ago. It has 32gb (expandable by sd card), a 5mp camera, a nifty slide-out keyboard and a touchscreen. I have regretted not getting an iPhone ever since. The thing about the iPhone is the sheer number of widgets, accessories, programs (Apps I suppose is the term) and it seems to work well and has a very nifty touchscreen. It hasn't got much of a camera, but I doubt anyone here will be buying a phone for its camera.

I can't even find a screen cover for the Nokia, it keeps telling me the memory is full (you continuously have to clear the cache) and it sometimes crashes. The battery life is it's one saving grace, it lasts for about 3 days with regular usage.

For my next phone, I will resist the urge to be different and get an iPhone. The Nexus is probably going not going to have the mass appeal of the iPhone. Sometimes it pays to follow the herd, because they always want new apps and accessories, and the huge user base of herd economics makes that economically viable.

It's the same with Pentax, I think I'll get a Nikon next

But seriously though, google android looks interesting and it seems to have matured with the 2.x version. I've never tried it but might have a go with the samsung galaxy s.
It looks like a fun phone and OS to play with.

You say that like it's a clever thing to say, but there seem to be quite a few people doing exactly what you're laughing about.

Tell you what Stefan, go and buy your Android phone, then come back and compare it to the iPhone. Until you actually own one of these things your endless nitpicking is worthless.

My wife was a rabid anti-mobile phone person for about 10 years. Then she played with my then-new iPhone and had to have one. She always hated tiny mobile phone buttons so she likes the big qwerty keys. Now she is an SMS addict. She has even shortened her nails solely to make the touchscreen easier to use!

I truly said nothing interesting and I asked some genuine questions here, since when is that wrong?

iPhone is more solid but android looks more fun.

Yeah the 2.2 version is the first one where things are looking as good / if not better than the iPhone. I'd say that 2.2 is better than the 3GS but TBD on how it compares to the OS4 which is coming out for the new iPhone.

I don't need to buy both, because I don't go around talking a load of shite about Android.

You constantly bang on about how you prefer your HTC or Samsung or whatever the hell it is. You've said more than once how this or that other phone is better than the iPhone. So why do you keep on asking these questions about the iPhone?

I'll tell you why, you are engaged in your favourite juvenile game, which is to ask a loaded or controversial question about some Apple product, then sit back and watch people (who actually own the product) write lengthy replies. You then ignore the replies and ask some other idiotic question. On the internet this is known as trolling.
