No, but I suppose this isn't a warranty issue.

Even for a simple firmare upgrade they have asked for proof of purchase otherwise they charge but maybe this is different as it could have been avoided if they had stuck to the K-mount sepcifications.

I would suggest to everyone that even if you don't have a K-1 it would be prudent to have the modification done in case you wish to sell or trade the lens. And will Sigma be modifying their K-mount at production stage to avoid this?

I just contacted Castle Cameras which is my local Sigma reseller and was told if I didn't buy the lenses from them then I would have to pay a handling fee. Just sent another email to find out how much before I contact Sigma directly.

I contacted Sigma directly regarding getting the mount on my 150-500 replaced.
Their reply directed me to http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/returns and to follow the instructions for sending it to them for the mount to be replaced. Apparently this will be done at no cost and they will contact me once received. But I am left to fork out £27.60 postage to get it to them though. Hardly no cost.

As I purchased from SRS, getting the lens to them to deal instead would incur an identical postage cost.

Castle Cameras quoted me £25 per item as a handling fee so I may as well send them off myself.

Perhaps I'll have to arrange a trip by way of Welwyn Garden City and deliver it by hand.

If I post mine to you could you drop them in at the same time?

Oh hang on ... that would sort of defeat the purpose really

Errr.... yes!

Trouble is it's over two hundred miles each way, but in a Nissan Leaf the fuel cost should be zero.

London Camera Exchange didn't charge me, maybe an oversight but if you have one nearby you give them a call.

Had a response from SRS re the 85 and 70-200 fyi

'Just speaking to Sigma UK they are happy to replace the mounts free of charge for you.
Currently they do have the mount available for the 85mm f1.4, but the 70-200mm mounts aren't going to be available until mid July.

They have also suggested that you can arrange all of this directly with them, by giving them a call on (01707) 329999.'

Looks liked I'd still have to cover postage costs though which would be quite a bit for both lenses. (insured)

Just received back my Sigma 150-500 from LCE with a shiny new mount, designed with a bevel to keep the outer edge of the mount away from the camera body. Not bad service and no charge.

I delivered my Sigma 70-200 f2.8 to the Service Centre at Wewyn Garden City last Thursday around 4.00pm for the mount mod as I was not too far away at Cambridge.

It's just arrived back this morning (Tuesday), in Conwy, a journey of 230 miles, at around 9.30am.

I wasn't the original owner and I wasn't asked for proof of purchase at all.

That's excellent service in my book and a big thank you from me.

I must send mine away some time although I'm not in a great hurry as I don't intend on buying a K-1 any time soon.

I'm not certain I will be getting a K1 that quickly either, but it seemed prudent to get the lens converted while the offer is on. I suppose too that if I decide to part with the lens its a good idea that its done in case a K1 owner is interested. I was in the area anyway, and as its quite expensive to post the lens because of the insurance it seemed like a plan.

I've had my 150 - 500 sorted back in July and the 70 - 200 sorted today, they couldn't do the later in July as there are two types of mount, one with 3 securing screws and one with 4. Mine was a 3 and the mounts weren't in stock at that time.

Both lenses were done while I waited and the firmware was checked and updated at the same time, plus a slight tweak on the locking mech was corrected on the 150 - 500 as well.

I can only say I've received excellent service on both occasions with a phone call just to arrange a week before and wouldn't hesitate in dealing with them again.

All this was done at no charge.
