hello..have use of my dad's pentax gear..waiting for him to upgrade!!!

Have jay's visiting my bird table. Have many static shots but want to catch them in flight. Using K10 withJJC WR 100 wireless remote. Although I set it up all the pics show out of fucus. sometimes the remote does not fire. I need to leave the set up for maybe an hour for the birds visit. Does the camera shut down and loose all my settings? Does anyone else have experience of usi ng this set up and can advise. The Jay's are obviously feeding and won't keep visiting fort much longer.

Hello Thora...welcome to the site. I have tried to do the same but I found you have to be fairly close to the camera in order for the firing to work well. I did however find that the setting stayed the same every time...even after it went into sleep mode.

I did take self portrait pictures...you can see the one on my portfolio if you click on my username....The picture is of my holding baby, it is called "A real Doll"...this shot was using the remote...turned out nice...infact one of our Pentax user here has hung it in thier gallery in Argentina...so it was well liked. I preset the focus...it did stay as set after it was fired.

I have a K-m...and do LOVE the pictures it takes. Please post some of your pictures...I would love to see the end results of all your efforts...and I LOVE the JAY!!

PS It is on page two....in my gallery...and is the first Photo on that page. Oh ya...my picture you see was also taken with the remote

thank you JudithAnn for your welcome. I'm a real newbe and need my dad to hold my hand, and he is not at all well at the moment, so it is work it out for yourself at the moment. Don't know how to show you my pictures. Will have to wait until dad can show me how, i'm afraid. I share your love of nature and my God who created it all.

With regard to the K10D, shutting down shouldn't lose your settings

Birds are fast. I didnt realize it until I tried to shoot with remote (F). Exposure time must be really fast - or everything is out of focus.

The result I got you can see here link I had exp time 1/1250 !!!
Even with that most of the pics were blur.
This was my first time to catch birds with remote.
I was really happy with the result, but still so much to improve.....

If it seemed to be too long waitingtime, I shoot just an "empty" pic - to keep the camera awake.
But you can change in in the menus: set-up - Auto power off - off (or 30 min) - as you wish.
