Not bad considering I'm only supposed to get 10Mbit/sec. Got 17Mbit the 1st time I tried!

Sky bought out easynet to try and solve their speed issues apparantly. (next door neighbour installs commercial broadband) but its gone the other way due to easynets crap servers)

Do you have lots of extensions in the house? If so go to the master socket and undo the front faceplate. There will be a test socket. Plug the router into there and redo the test. If its significantly better its your wiring.

Matt

Will do Matt, cheers.
Cliff.

Gwyn, your just bragging

If we had a better phone line it would be 30+Mb/s but we are on the edge of a phone area so it is slower . Not sure what I'd do with such speed though.

I can download a full 700mb film (one which i own but lost cracked the disc) in under 5 minutes. I think if i got faster speeds i would bleed off some of the download to increase the upload as i think 19.5mb is fast enough.

I think the problem is the further away from the exchange (line attenuation) the more noise created as it travels down the line so slower speeds as when if the isp upped the speed the noise would keep knocking the router off.

BT are supposed to be doing this all new singing and dancing fibre optic wiring with speeds upto 100mb but ill believe it when i see it.

Anvh,

Thats a good speed. Liek i said i dont think many if any speed tests measure the upload properly.

2nd place is the first loser. How can i cope now?

Matt I think that most of the speed comes by using Opera since ie7 hardly touch the speed I had there.
Upload speed seems to be pretty constant here though, don't know what we are using here.

Struth Stefan - I want your router dope tested.

I'm getting about 5 down and 0.4 up at the moment. That is Virgin nominally 8Mb/s. I have noticed it sags a bit between 4pm and 9pm.

Not noticed much problem with the speed on this site.
