Yes, it struck me that it was a handshake/protocal bottleneck thingy somewhere on my route round the net to your server.
John you connection is considerably faster then mine (say in Brummie accent).
But I have always known my Sky connection was rubbish (used to be on Virgin till some cost saving were made in the household )
but that isn't the problem here.
I'll reset my router and and get back to you.
I'd be faster with my answers but well... you know.

The speed varies depending on the demand and other factors, so it won't be a fixed figure every time.

I was on Sky before i switched to O2. The reason i switched was due to speed issues. Especially busy times. I was paying for the top one (about £10 per month extra if i remember right) which was supposed to be 16mb. I used to get about 3mb/s. They said "your line wont support adsl2 its not our fault. I switched to O2 , which is adsl2 and i get the above. My line wont support adsl2, YEAH RIGHT!

Do you have lots of extensions in the house? If so go to the master socket and undo the front faceplate. There will be a test socket. Plug the router into there and redo the test. If its significantly better its your wiring.
