Hi-I'm ploughing through the GX10 manual and there are a couple of things confusing me: What is multi-exposure mode? I set it but nothing exciting happened. Also, what is the purpose of turning the dial to 'User'? I'm exactly half-way through the manual and I haven't even got to the difficult bits yet

Can't help I'm afraid, but if the manual's anything like my old S850 I'd look for an alternative publication!

I believe that multi epxosure mode means you can take multiple shots and merge them into one photo, it only works in JPG i believe.

USER mode is your own "tweak" of one of the other dials.
So if normaly you shoot in AV with auto iso from 100-400 in RAW it rembers that when switching to TV mode, it stays auto ISO 100-400 and it stays RAW. But you can set USER mode for example on a setting you use with low ligth so maybe ISO 1600, TV mode with so much over exposure and in jpg. It remebers that so if you go to USER mode you will get those settings, handy right?

Multi-exposure is 2 or more exposures superimposed on the same frame. In film days, you would create a multi-exposure by not winding the film on between frames.

'User' mode is an exposure mode that you can customise for your own special needs and save it. EG: You might want a special setup for sports photography and rather than make all the necessary adjustments each time you go to a sports event, you can have it all saved and recall it using 'User' mode.

Incidentally, congratulations on reading the manual. I think mine's still in the box. I'm still not quite sure what some of the buttons do after two years!

But I'm hopeful the K-7 will be more intelligent than me so it will tell me what to do!

The K-m has a built in help function for those not reading the manual. I did read the manual of my K20D and keep it within reach most of the time.

Let's hope Pentax carry this idea forward to the K-7, it would save a lot of page turning and swearing.

The K-m has two wonderful buttons as such...One is an information button explainingthe infor on any setting and a smart little button on the top of the camera with a ?...it will tell you what any setting is for...

for example if your dial was on 'Sv'...click the ? and the screen will say..."The e-dial sets the ISO sensitivity, and aperture and shutter are set automatically for quick ISO changes"

It is in many ways like having your manual summerized and built in the camera...soo nice.

It would be smart for Pentax to carry this feature in upcoming models!

Having said that...I would always recommed reading the manual also...it has help me learn much more then is in the cameras help button
