Jeff- from what you are saying it appears you are intimating that you should not consider or look at the work of others because you will in some way copy their style and that will render your work less valuable.
Look at the history of art- and how great artists , be they photographers, painters , sculptures, composers or whatever are influenced by their peers and those that went before.
looking at the work of others can be very inspirational. Otherwise you may as well take your photographs and bury them at the end of the garden!

Okay- I think looking at other peoples photographs does not prevent this and can be a source of inspiration

In that case perhaps your original post was a little harsh or maybe lost in translation at my end. I just had a look at your other contributions to the forum and you are clearly a very passionate guy!
