First Outing with the Bigma

Went to Fuengirola Zoo today to give the Bigma it's first real test, only problem it was 38C to hot, to many tourists, bright sunshine, and dark shadows, anyway learned a lot about the lens and I should have taken my monopod, so here are some of my efforts and my left wrist with constant zooming and neck are aching, enough of the excuses, comments are always welcome as usual, if you have any questions about the lens please ask.

lovely shot jack, first and second ones for me, how did you find the lens, thinking of getting one in nikon mount,

Thanks Scott, it's OK but heavy and tiring after 3 hours of use and does draw a bit of attention,

I always find people give me more room when I'm out with the Bigma - anyone with a lens that big must be a professional seems to be their thinking. I'm not complaining

It is heavy but I tend to use my OP/tech harness with it to spread the weight a bit more.

All good shots Jack, particularly like the Tiger and the Chimp. Although the way the Gorilla is sat resting his arm on the log is quite amusing.

The chimp shot is wonderful... perhaps not quite as sharp as some of the others but what a brilliant expression... great exposure and overall nice muted colour range.

I find myself a bit disturbed by its nipples though for some reason

I think I like the bird best myself - lovely detail

I'm pleasantly surprised at the sharpness of this lens. It almost makes me want to go and buy one. But . . . only 38 degrees, pah, that's quite chilly, it hit 44.4 degrees in Totana today and I still can't convince SWMBO to get aircon.

These are really excellent shots very sharp
I would have liked to have seen what focal length and f number was used though (or are they all 500mm)

Well Peter that is starting to get hot, were expecting the same this week, thank God for aircon, I was back in the UK last week for 3 days bloody freezing at 19C, glad to be back in Spain,
