I note (and have queried with Pentax Tech support) that the v1.07 .bin file for the K5II has the same file-name as the v1.06 .bin file.

However the internal file header seems to imply that it is version 1.07.24.16 dated 20/2/14

Thanks, and interesting app. Googled it, but can't find it. Do you have a link please?

Got it, thanks!

Presumably you download and extract the new firmware, then 'scan' the SD card with this software?

No need. Just run it and drag the extracted .bin file into it. All it does is it reads the start of the file like a hex editor would.

Well I've updated to this 1.07 and it didn't brick the camera.

All my pictures now appear much sharper and more contrasty. But that could be because I've also cleaned my specs

My old Tamron 1x4 Teleconverter is working with all of my lenses and it is focusing as if the TC was not even there. However, the focal length displays incorrectly and reads the focal length of the lens attached, but focusing is defiantly better and the images looks spot on IQ wise.

Tried following lenses

DA*200mm
DA* 50mm-135mm
Tamron Dl ll AF 17mm-50mm
FA* 80mm-200mm
Sigma Art 35mm
DA* 55mm

I wonder how the new HD Pentax TC will perform?

Updated and as usual, the megapixel count has gone up and it's FF now

Updated my II and the AF is MUCH better when using a Kenko 1.5x TC

Tested on: (as these are all HSM or SDM)

16-50mm f2.8
17-70mm f4
50-135mm f2.8
60-250mm f4
300mm f4
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSM OS
Sigma 50-500mm HSM OS

The 2 Sigmas were a total no no with the TC before the firmware upgrade but now are working like a charm. As Fletchers though, still not reporting correct focal length or aperture.

Hoping the Pentax converter is better still.

Edit: Bit more testing, 300mm is still a bit hesitant to lock focus.

quik testing reveals my 18-135 is a bit more hesitant and hunts a bit now (I have never had it hunting before)

Pretty good trade off considering the extra megapixel count and FF conversion.

Seriously though, my 18-135mm is exactly the same as it was previously.

Can anyone help me? I downloaded the latest firmware file for the K5iiS, but when I run the EXE file my computer throws up an error. The BIN file still seems to have extracted, but I am too nervous now to go ahead and install it on the camera in case there is an issue.

Anybody know what the problem is?

Happens to me too, probably all Windows users. On K3 1.02 I just ignored it. Ricoh would be pretty silly not to be checking for file integrity before allowing the bin to run.
