pentax has the option of moving the sensor forwards and backwards during exposure to adjust focus for different wavelengths of light and merging the data to remove aberrations and increase sharpness for every lens ever made...

It's my understanding that no one moves the sensor in/out towards the lens, as that directly impacts on the focus point of the shot.
Agree with the comments above about the cost of FF cameras. It will only drop as more manufacturers start using it. Presently 3 Canon, Nikon and Sony, but soon Pentax as well. It's just another sensor size, and should be selected on the basis of needing something the sensor offers, rather than a concept of being better simply based on size. Insert some typical 'it's how you use it' type joke in here...

Contax used this system on their only AF film SLR, the RX - probably because users having bought a collection of excellent (and expensive) Zeiss glass, wouldn't want to buy even more expensive AF versions of them as well.

Aberrations occur because different wavelength of light will focus at different points when passing through glass.... ever see a prism separate light into it's colour components? I'm suggesting the sensor could be used to make a precise focus for each colour and merge the data to eliminate aberrations...

Nothing has changed in this forum.
50% of members think FF or similar is worth then what they have now,
25% don't give a damn
and 25 looking forward to using a FF with all the advantages and possible disadvantages it may have.
I am one of the FF enthusiasts.
Pentax fell behind, not only because of the inferior advertising, but also of the excessive time to stick with only the APS-C sensor.
The other 2 makers had also APS-C or similar sensors, but if you wanted, you could get a FF.
I hope Pentax does not release the new FF before the end of the year, this gives me time to save more.
I am looking forward to using my FA77mm Fa 43mm and all the other F and FA lenses how they should be used and not only part of it.
The moment I get a Pentax FF, my K5 get demoted to dragging around when I go camping in inhospitable areas.

Let the sensor correctly capture what the lens you use is capable of. Don't forget, there are lenses specifically made with chromatic and other aberrations. If the sensor would correct all this, the lenses could not do what is expected.

D0n, what you say and describe is correct, I think you completely missed the point I made...

However the diagram just applies to a single lens like use in a Box camera.
The reason, why most lenses have more than 1 element is not because the glass manufacturers like to use up surplus glass, but to correct all the aberrations as much as possible.
There should be no need to for the sensor ( if it could be done), to correct this and having to cope with
lenses with varying aberrations.

Two NYC mega-sellers, and also retail locations throughout Asia have stated the same exact thing. They know of release dates at least six to nine months in advance. Nothing has shown that ANY Pentax full-frame will be making release this year.It may well be released later than originally stated

In the meantime, watch as Canon, Nikon, (even) Sony continue to steam roll forward; sensors that are 50+ mp and very soon they'll have their "entry level" full-frames that will cost not much more than a Pentax cropped sensor
