Weather has been terrible here lately, just as the bugs should be appearing so does the rain. Anyway, few from me with the Tamron Adaptall 2 & K-7

Superb shots, I like the first best, because of the diffused lighting.

Wow, some of these are amazing- I have read about "focus stacking" on here before- is this technique being applied here?

Focus stacking was done on the moth, the others are single shots.

Can I ask a very "beginner" question. How close is the end of the lens to the bugs?

A few inches at the most. The lens was almost touching the green bug.

The nice thing about having a high megapixel camera is that you can crop much closer these days (if needed).

All excellent as usual Mike but the first hoverfly pic is exceptional. The point of focus is perfect and the backdrop is absolutely spot-on. A racing certainty for inclusion in the PPG methinks.

I love the moth and you did really well with the shield bug they usually drop to the ground if they see you coming.

Those are fantastic - I keep changing my mind as to which is my favourite

Perhaps it's time for Mike-P's macro tutorial - I reckon I would learn quite a lot
