The other night it was clear so I decided to an extended reshoot of the Elephants Trunk Nebule, I also ofset it slightly to show more of the Nebula in which is stiuated.

Usual kit & software was used, and it is 50 x 300sec exposures. The last one I posted was only 17 x 300sec exposures.

Enjoy!

Fabulous photos as always. I am going to be in the Kalahari next next year. During the day it might be 45C. It cools down at night of course, Do you think the heat radiating up into the atmosphere will make it useless for trying Astro? I have a K3iii.
I have always been hopeless at astro as I struggle to focus the 16-85mm. There is no way to know the lens is at infinity as it just keeps rotating.
K3iii, K3ii, K-5, K-x, DA150-450mm, DA16-85WR, DA16-45, DA18-55WR, DA18-135WR, DA35 F2.4, M100mm F4 Macro, DA55-300mm, FA50mm 1.4, AF360 Flash, AF540 Flash

Thank you

I think you should be fine, no light pollution!!!

For doing wide field, I focus it in the day to an object at infinity. Then look where actual infinity is on the focus ring/read out. The turn AF off at night, and set the focus to the point you found during the day.

Or use a Bahtinov Mask.... point it at a bright star. Then put camera on live view. Then zoom the view so you can see the star and focus.

I'm still in awe of your Astrophotography - I might have a bash again in the next few weeks, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near your standards
