Tell her you were planning on getting a Canon 1D Mark 4 but decided to save four grand and get the Samsung instead.

Spa, definitely. Find one doing a three visit offer, then she can drag it out for a few months and that should cover more lenses, accessories etc. Seemed to work for me! Welcome to the forum.

(Oh, and wait till you buy something on here and she finds out you've sent a load of wonga to SOMEONE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW FOR SOMETHING YOU HAVEN'T SEEN!!!!!!! Without the "protection" of ebay....)

A tripod doesn't need to cost a fortune. I picked up a perfectly serviceable Slik 500G (small, lightweight 'pod) for £8.50 on ebay. Bit faded here and there but it works perfectly and will do the business for most situations.

Phil, give it time. A week max and it will be ok. She will never forget about it and will alllllllways rub it in your face but it will be worthit. My K20 is my 7th digital. Easier for her to foregive than for you to ask for permission
K20D,24-90 3.5-5.6,50-135 2.8 + GRIP. SAVING FOR 60-250 F4
