Does an adaptor like this exist?

Hi folks, I wonder if anyone can tell me if this beastie is out there.

I want to reverse a K mount lens on my K-x for macro work - no problem with that, I have a male K mount to 49mm filter thread adaptor, and that does that bit OK. But what I want to do now is mount my ring light on the back of the lens. So what I need is a female K mount to a filter thread adaptor (doesn't matter what thread size, I have several adaptors for that).

I've googled, but all I find is the adaptors to reverse the lens onto the body.

Any ideas anyone please? Many thanks in advance.

Ring lights are usually supplied with adapter rings, so if you don't have the rings why not try SRB Griturn who make all sorts of rings and adapters.

Cut up an old rear K-mount cap and glue and old filter to it?

You'll need a way to stop the K mount unlocking. The body's lock uses a pin to stop the lens rotating, but other things could work too (elastic, Sugru etc).

Or you could butcher an old K mount camera for the mount and lock...

Thanks John, I have the rings for the light, but they won't fit the K mount on the back of the lens, so it's that interface I'm looking for.

Matt, yes I could go the DIY route if I have to, I was hoping someone made one to save me having to get 'creative'

If you used a M42 screw thread lens reversed then you just need a threaded adapter

I used the 13mm section of a set of tubes glued to a 58mm filter with the glass removed, works a treat

Pentax used to sell one, but I've never ever seen one advertised for sale, anywhere.

I made mine from an old manual extension tube and one of my many redundant filters.

I removed the female bayonet mount from the extension tube, removed the glass from the filter, and glued them together with araldite.

The only issue doing it this way is that the female K mount does not lock on to the lens mount. Perhaps a better solution is to use a complete, but thin, extension tube if you want a DIY solution, like Steve has said.

Try and pay attention JR, the OP wants to mount the ring flash on the bayonet mount end of a reversed lens.

The eagle-eyed among us will notice that the PUF member Mayday = the PentaxForums member CertEdFriday. Mayday posted the same images in my thread in 2010. Good of him to credit me on PentaxForums with the idea, but I think his version is better than mine simply because the locking mechanism remains intact.

Would you believe I'm actually holding one as I type this? I got it in a job lot of flash gear, with a ringflash. Maybe I should stick it on ebay...

The only reference I found to it at the time was an old listing on an Aus website.
