I've seen enough and despite all the snow removal I've been doing [ resulting in a very sore back and 2 exceedingly sore arms ] I still can't get my car out of the garage !!

The road outside my house is kept gritted and salted - so it's fine - I just can't get to it

We have bucket loads over hear if you want some Ted, I have been snowbound for two days and it is set for temperatures between -6 -13 in some parts of Northumberland.

18 inchs of snow in the garden cannot get the car of the drive
have to walk to work the last two day at 5-30am

It was 25 degrees when I got up this morning in Qatar, but now it's -3 in London. Can't say I've missed the weather.

Here if it's not below freezing it's really not far off.

I did manage to get out this morning - to the bank .

I did similar a few years back. Left Jeddah at midnight - 30C. Got to Heathrow in jeans and a t-shirt and it was -1C and snowing.

Doh. Filling my windscreen washer tank with antifreeze, something possessed me to poke the coolant tank with my finger. Finger went straight through the plastic, which must have gone brittle, leaving a hole the size of a 2p.

I guess for now I'll have to find a way of sealing the hole up until I have time to take the car in for a new tank

The winter has already claimed its first victim. My Car Battery.....
Went to go out today, and car would not start. Had to ring AA to get some juice in the battery (I currently don't have a charger) and the AA guy tested it, and it was goosed. So a new battery was fitted at a cost. Oh well...

I was still at school then, but remember the snow hanging
round for months in the town centres. They eventually employed
people off the dole to clean it away by hand instead of digging
the M6 motorway, which had stopped

Then there was the "thick pee soup" like fog which was
too dark for them to film them were the days!!

So far quite a bit of my snow pile has vanished . If this keep up, I'll be able to get the car out tomorrow

Thanks for that link! We were visiting my grandfather at my Uncle's house in Rugby when the first snows came - we woke up to a world of white. It was very exciting at first.
My father couldn't drive up to get us (we had an old Reliant!) and the buses weren't running. My grandfather had been a GWR guard and he pulled a few strings and so we travelled south in the guards van to a point were another uncle, with his Austin could pick us up and get us home. My brother reminded me of that only today.

Not only weren't the men wearing gloves or heavy coats - the boys were all wearing shorts too.

It is snowing again here, and we are promised freezing rain (ijzel) here tomorrow.

I was still going to school in short trousers as well!!!
