Clouds

Some cloud pics from the last month or so, some from the K5 and some from the Kx, which I am using again as my K5 was incorrectly re-assembled during it's last repair (the shutter release fell off). It came back with the focus select thingy jammed and the camera stuck in manual focus, so it's gone back to Johnsons.

All taken with my FA 24-90mm, except the last one of the thunderstorm at night, which was taken with my Sigma 24mm Super-Wide II.

I'm constantly amazed how clean your windows must be.

No bug splats or anything! Do you slip the maintenance guys a few quid?

I especially like 2 & 3 - seeing the cumulous and stratus mixing like that. Unfortunately I never get high enough to see it!

Stunning set. The humble K-x is very much under rated

EDIT: You can have some credit too

Apocalyptic is the word I would chose too Jon. That final image is completely awe inspiring.

Every single shot in this thread (except perhaps the first one, due to the it-looks-central-but-it-just-is-out-of-the-middle-positioning of the sun) deserves to be printed largeformat and mounted on the wall.

What I really like about these shots is that you've promoted the background (as clouds normally are in the background of the subject) to be the subject itself.
Shots 2,3 and 4 have a very abstract character, the shapes and colors become more than just clouds.
Fabulous. Just wondering - I'm new here - you either live underneath the eye of Mordor or do you professionally have access to a cockpit?
