Check your nuts

So I got my Vanguard VEO 265AB tripod out to check all is well for my upcoming trip to South Africa and, as I got it out of the bag, one of the nuts that holds one of the legs to the head fell off with its washer! Incredibly I noticed that one of the other bolts had already lost its nut. Where this has gone I will never know. Only one leg was actually held on!
Just shows the importance of checking the tightness of your nuts and the importance of checking gear before heading out.

Surely they should be able to use some sort of lock nut? Seems pretty poor to me as the rest of the tripod seems very well made (made in Myanmar amazingly).

I'm not impressed with a couple of things I've had from Vanguard. However I will say the customer service was good. Have you tried to get replacement parts. They are just on the south coast At Christchurch

I think when you put it together again you should use spring washers or nuts with a nylon locking strip in them.
Just the thoughts of a retired engineer.
CHEERS Vic.

That's what I thought. I am surprised they don't do it in the factory. Other than that, I have been very pleased with my Vanguard. I have had the metal version and now have the carbon fibre version. Only 200 grammes difference. Somehow I actually preferred the metal version.
My father in law fixed it so it should be fine.
