I think John is right: I should get a manual focus lens but with a K-mount to avoid adapters. This said I might look at "genuine" Pentax ones as TOZZA27 suggests although the word "permanent" worries me. I wonder when you last removed it and did the removal involve any naughty words.

The genuine Pentax Adapter K should be as smooth as silk, as we should expect.

You attach it to a lens and then bayonet the whole into place. Then screw thread lenses can easily be removed and replaced. Think of it as converting a K body to an M42 screw thread one, temporarily.

To eventually remove the adapter from the camera, operate the catch on the adapter to release it, rotate and it should drop out easily into the palm of your hand.

No naughty words at all - until I got my wife Joclick a nice shiny second hand K100D she used the *istD as her own camera and I regularly took the adapter off for when we went out together as she has no experience of manual SLRs and loves the Pentax weight, feel and programming to help her enjoy our hobby.
As John correctly says it removes easily..........

Just wondering if it's possible to use CIF remotely without a cable release, ie. any other way to lock the shutter? If not, what's the best cable/remote for the K-5?

Cheers

Phil
