I have watched and photographed dragonflies engaged in similar activity, but rarely with the degree of success seen here

Inspired by your prowess and success, Chris, here are some shots of an hugely obliging female Emperor Dragonfly (Anax imperator) engaged in egg-laying at The Water Garden, Hinton Parva (link).










All captured using an handheld K5 with SMC Pentax-FA* 200mm F2.8 ED [IF] and Kenko Teleplus 1.4X PZ-AF MC4 DG TC. From camera JPEGs with NR and levels-adjustment but no additional sharpening.
