John - your translation has done a direct translation of each word, not the phrase. Word order is different in Dutch, but basically it means stop moaning.

Den Bosch is Oeteldonk this weekend. Den Bosch is also an acceptable variation on the name 's Hertogenbosch, just as Den Haag is acceptable instead of 's Gravenhage.

Gravenhage Sounds like something you would suffer from in the morning after drinking too much cheap plonk the night before

Sounds more like someone clearing their throat after way too many cigarettes

The apostrophe s is important in the name btw.

I don't like Jenever

To me it sounds like a cheap version of Stonehenge made out of old gravestones.

How to pronounce 's Gravenhage (click on DirkJ for the better pronunciation).

How to pronounce 's Hertogenbosch (either voice) .

Den Bosch returns to being Den Bosch tomorrow, it is still Oeteldonk today.

Last night we had a gritting lorry past for the first time this winter.
Over night temperature circa -1 deg C.

This morning we have a "veritable snow blizzard", barely sticking, visibility 1/2 mile.

Outside we've just had a road sweeper removing the evidence of grit/snow - take your pick.

I sometimes wonder if our councils have enough to do

I've seen / heard plenty of gritters but they've not been needed for sn...

The gritters come down our street regularly, and have been needed.
Sunday's snow is still lying with treacherous icy patches. It is a sunny -1C here today, but snow and freezing rain are forecast for tomorrow and Friday morning. Just when I don't need it.

I have to take the dog to the kennel tomorrow am - out in the middle of the country down a single lane road, which won't have seen a gritter or plough all winter. Tomorrow evening late we have to collect youngest son and his partner from their house so that Friday morning we can leave for the airport at 2 am.

Driving is still difficult with my poorly wing, but I have to do it. I really hope I can get the dog away before the snow.

I was a little surprised, as when it was blatently obvious that even a single pass would have been welcomed, nothing was done.

Now when it's more water than snow, we get one which is immediately cleared up by another division.

Although it wouldn't surprise me to find that it was the same driver.

Drive carefully Gwyn, it'll be a shame to undo the repair because of a twitchy vehicle.

Bernard
