It'll be chicken sarnies for lunch tomorrow, but no chicken at tea time.

That'll be a pork stew currently cooking slowly on the stove. We'll finish the chicken off on Wednesday.
Cheers, HG

Pork stew sounds good. What do you put in it?
I may give it a go this week in the crock pot .

Had lunch out today on the way down to Hawes. Picked up some Wensleydale cheese and Caramelised Onion Chutney. Tea sorted

There is a fantatsic recipe from the 'Andy Bates - street food guy' probably worth searching for - my better half followed one of his recipes whent a ham/bacon hock was used and the resulting stew had treacle in it - seems weird but it was great

He makes a chicken and ham hock pie but uses the water to render down and use for jelly - my better half boiled the hock then placed it in the oven for the crackling then used the water as a base for the stew adding veg and some of the meat back in - treacle really helps the flavour

Not healthy maybe but great

Apparently the good food channel website has more info

I just throw in some chopped celery, a few carrots, red and white onions and, of course , pork.

It's usually a couple of steaks from the freezer.

The left over veg from this evening will go in tomorrow to bulk it out, then a couple of large Yorkshire puddings to serve it in.

I'm feeling hungry already!!
Cheers, HG

Sounds good HG! Very tempting, especially as winter arrived here this morning.
I can live with freezing temps, no problem, had them for a week or so, but snow .
Hopefully it won't last.

Yesterday was sunny but cold. This morning had a dusting of snow at 0300 hrs but all clear by 0700hrs. Garden just looks wet and soggy now.

I'm sorry to know that you were awake at 03:00. Going to bed, or going to the loo? As for 09:55, I was barely out of bed by then!

Despite the best efforts of Lady HG and myself we had some veg left over, which is now in the stew and simmering on the stove.

The left over chicken went in sandwiches and I'm just about to do some Yorkshire puds to go with the stew...

....big ones that will take the stew and provide a good filling tea in this cold weather.
Cheers, HG
