Groucho Marx, the king of one liners:
One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know.
I never forget a face but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.
Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.
And my all time favourite:
Remember men, we're fighting for this woman's honour; which is probably more than she ever did.

My favourite is actually Damson jam. My Granny used to make this years ago and it was superb - lots of tangy bite. The damson jams you can buy are useless by comparison.
It makes me think that if every other type of jam is equally useless then we don't get any idea of what jam should really taste like.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to make, once you get the hang of it (and with the aid of a thermometer)
Had a few mini 'disasters' - see marmalade comments a few pages back; and last years marrow jam has yet to set (whats left of it that is)
Birds beat me to the cherry crop in the local woods, so thats one less, but I've got a bumber crop of black currents (which my wife has frozen pending pie making - but there should be some left over.

Now blackcurrant jam takes me back to my grans and child hood.
Home made from the bushes in the garden,I helped pick them and still have a healthy respect for their thorns.
Spread on home made bread..
.....those were the days,9 years old and not a care in the world...
