Another pointless thread

When I want to buy something I google it, or look for, say, camera shops. Then spend an entertaining hour or so sifting through for the best price.

Simple camera question,I can get a K-5 or wait for a K-30, what's the thought on the '5, worth getting as an upgrade on my ailing K200.

Sorry Gwyn, but I need to know, like, now!
Cheers, HG

HG, you of all people should know the rules on what you may and may not mention! Now be good or we'll send you outside to chop firewood until you've learnt your lesson!

Apparently 2,000 people complained to the BBC. It seems that they sat and watched some boats going down the Thames for 4½ hours and found it 'tedious'. I had a very enjoyable weekend. Mainly because I didn't sit watching a tedious programme for 4½ hours straight!

HG I'd get the K-5 but I'm biased. TBH I haven't really looked at the K-30 though. Just not interested in it. No doubt the K-3 (or whatever) will be exciting, and expensive but again I shan't be biting. Whatever you decide I am sure it will be a great choice.
Now go chop that wood. And I'll throw another log on the fire.

The boat show was tedious - not because of the boats but the lack of information on them. Too many stupid celebs, and terrible fawning uninformed commentary. Same with the concert and the service and carriage drive. The BBC did a piss-poor job this time. I was longing for a Dimbleby or two.

It was watching boats on the Thames that high-lighted the need to upgrade and hence the question.

I'll get an honest answer on this thread, not like some forums...

That, and I know 1 or 2 on here have the '5 so wanted an honest, unbiased point of view.

Going to chop wood and await some answers (please!!) now
Cheers, HG

I love the K-5, have from the first time I held one at Photokina two years ago. It just felt right. The fact it produces great low noise images is just a plus for me . It is all the camera I want or need and then some and will last me a few more models yet. Not that I shall be able to afford a new one any more but that is beside the point.

I have had a quick look at the K-30 now and it looks great. I'd have to handle it to love it, but if I didn't have the K-5 I might be tempted. Not sure I want all those scene modes, and I would really miss the top screen.

Given the price of the K-5, with kit lens I'd probably still opt for the K-5 now .

Did you catch the merry, soaking wet, girls singing "Land of Hope and Glory"? They were nearly at the end, and one of the best bits.

Yes, I felt sorry for them! However, they seemed to be taking it well. I noticed that none of the band/orchestra ventured out on deck!

Unlike the band on another ship, some years ago.

The weather would have wrecked the stringed instruments, and not done a lot for things like oboes and clarinets. You couldn't have say the brass section out on deck and the rest in the dry. It just wouldn't work.

Well the sporting summer from hell kicks off tonight. Lots of alternative TV available were it not for the fact I foolishly married a football/tennis/cycling/anything vaguely sporty fan.

I was hoping the weather would play ball and I could escape outside but unless I don my sou'wester there is no chance of that.

I find it amazing that the BBC camera team couldn't find a rainshield/umbrella for their camera lenses. Considering a goodly number were long focus shots a bit of plastic drainpipe would almost have done the trick

The weather was far too nice up here so I missed the whole thing. The Platinum Jubilee is only 10 years away. I might just wait for that one!
