I don't like Jenever either. Nor Heineken. Beerenberg is OK in (very) small doses.

So why live here? Good question.

That takes some doing doesn't it.

Many years ago the company I worked for had a site in Zoest and the popular place to go was a restaurant on a hill (I gather it was 2m above the surrounding countryside)

Zeist or Soest? Lots of hills around here bigger than 2m NAP. I'm in Soest . It's the end of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.

Tony has Cyril, I have a robin (or generations of them) which has been in my garden for nigh on 20 years, or more. It is tame enough to feed from my hand and will sit nearby twittering whenever I'm out there.

I've just come in for lunch, leaving him twittering a few feet from where I was.

So what I hear you say.

Well when you consider I was using a big router at the time screaming away whilst it soaked up 2kW, he was sat on my band saw 2 feet way watching my every move. I've no idea whether he was tweeing cos I had earmuffs on.

Never have a camera when I need one

I can understand him accepting the odd grub (which he could get for himself, just as easily) when I'm in the relative tranquility of the garden.

But I've never seen him indoors before and certainly wouldn't have expected him when I was making an almighty din.

Anyway that part is finished and I'll be doing the rest of the job nice and quietly with hand tools.

I've assumed "he/him" is male simply used because of the red breast. To be honest I've no idea whether it might be female, although it was feeding the grubs I gave it yesterday to young one, which stayed about 6 feet way.

Spent the day in beautiful Banchory. Never seen the Dee so low, one man fishing in waders with the water just up to his ankles.
