All this talk of food is making me very hungry - It seems that my supporting the missus in her diet has inevitably led to me being on a kind of diet
Weird day - grinding noise from the front brakes turned out to be some form of cr@p stuck in the drivers side brakes - easy job - strip them clean em and put em back together - no need for the new pads I bought expecting to replace them and no need for new disks (I had been warned that after 30,000+ miles since the pad/ disk replacement new disks could be expected) - good job I drive so slowly 30,000 miles and the old pads have only a few ml less than the new ones - old pads back in new ones shelved for the time being
I will get around to the oil change next week
My dad, an ex rugby player in Rock Ferry/ Birkenhead enjoyed the rugby but was just as miffed as me at the late cancellation of the second game - however - having had several hours reconstructive surgery on his right hand on Thursday afternoon following his circular saw incident he helped cook tea, did not complain at all about his hand and even wanted to get the tools out of his garage for me (I did this instead, of course) - what a man - had I had that injury I would probably of been winging about it
I bought a vivitar series 1 lens a while back but lost the bearing from under the apeture ring whilst trying to repair it - had to buy 10 of each size (wasn't sure so I bought 1.5 and 1mm versions) - looks like I will try to complete the repair tomorrow
As I have a 'few' spares - anyone need a 1.5mm or 1mm bearing let me know and I will save you having to buy 10 at a time - not worth putting this in the classifieds as they bearings are pennies each
Cheers
Stu

Just downloaded my pics from THE wedding - all 132 of them Some will be deleted I suspect , some need a little help from Aperture but there are a goodly number of keepers among them . I've taken what could really be called 'candids'. I'm actually quite chuffed with the results - never done anything like this before - particularly the shots from the evening disco.
Was chatting to the Pro [ I'd told him up in the bride's room that I would NOT be getting in his way] . He's seen some of my stuff in camera , and I've seen some of his , I was able to give him a shot he didn't think of [ the seating plan which of course had the Bride with her new surname ] He was very surprised to see I was shooting RAW.
Weather was kind to us - there was still some snow on the ground - but it was dry and very cold .
OH and on the drive up to the Hotel there was a sign I've never seen before [ and I'll try and take a pic of it tomorrow ]

She got it right after a bit of tuition in Tina's room - took an explanation from me and then 6 attempts before it was spot on , from her , then she managed 3 in succession correctly , and blew it at the ceremony THREE times
Some piccies will come later - the hotel's WiFi is a bit flaky and I've still to tweak them .
I wouldn't even attempt to upload anything to Photobucket today

Hows the ribcage and the healing Barrie?
Fine thanks Alan. If anything the leg is the most trouble but I'm up to 2x10 min brisk walks a day without any problems. I would not have been doing brisk anything before the op.

Following Algi's comments on recipe variations reminds me of a few years back attending an informal Christmas party at a rather smart hotel in Lichfield.
The buffet was aadvertised as a Ploughmans Lunch - so far so good, until on of our group asked the waiter (an elegant chap in a tailed evening suit) if we could have some pickled onions to go with the bread and cheese that had been provided.
His response was a look of utter horror and the comment "we do not have anything as vulgar as pickled onions at the A.......(name deleted to save the face of the present owners)". After that we didn't dare ask for Branstons
Now who's ever had a ploughmans lunch without a pickled onion. Their idea was chunks of crusty bread and a small selection of cheeses-full stop.
regards
Bernard

No Pickle Unbelievable
I don't really like fast food, but I stopped going in Mc Deadthings when they said they didn't carry Vinegar for the fries. Burger King on the other hand did..... and their Burgers are better, but not as good a Jamie Olivers Burgers that you can buy in supermarkets No Pickle Unbelievable
