Afternoon all - back safely from the deep south ( E.Sussex ) good trip down and back. The funeral was very moving on Friday and I was holding up well until his eldest son called me his "bezzie mate" and I lost it a little ! Still can`t believe he`s gone.
The hotel was excellent - we had b/b - and the turkey we got from the local butcher one of the best I have ever cooked.I prepped most of the lunch on the Saturday evening to save time Christmas day and it was indistinguishable from doing it a la minute. The munchkins were extatic and we spread the prezzies over three days to stagger the excitement as Saffy had a birthday on the 28th (2).Weather clement, alcohol limited,tv almost non existent and company great.Only spoiled by an outbreak of barfing and botty action on the Tuesday night for me,Jo and Emma delaying our return until Thursday.I got lots of useful gifts including thermals, knickers, socks, polo neck sweaters and Blue Stilton cheese. My sister bought us a vinyl and cassette converter to put all our old music on to pc and cd - nice.........
Glad too see all are well , hi Oggy , hope the fence gets sorted TT , hope the head gets better HG.................

Happy ( and Healthy ) New Year to you all - I`m up to the loft to get all the vinyl and cassettes down !!

No, not at all, she just tends to moderate this particular thread and ensures we don't develop a point for too long.

Is anybody going out tomorrow night?

Or will it be a night in with a stiff drink and Jools Holland?
Cheers, HG

Excellent program about George Eastman on PBS (SKY Ch 166) last
night. I think it's repeated today at 12:30pm

I`m going to cook the dinner now - not sure if we are having well hung steak or roast chicken or honey baked ham - depends on Jo`s tummy when she gets out of the bath !! She is still a bit queasy after the Norovirus episode on Tues/Weds in Emma`s.
Nice bottle of Cava on ice though - that`ll help ! And I`ve got some Fabuloso Spanish Solera brandy to round the evening off - I must be getting better........

Anyway - a fabulous and healthy New Year to you all - Mods,rockers,ex-Teddy boys, punks, hunks, guys and gals wherever you are..............let`s try another year !!

Had our grub over an hour ago, Coq Au Vin, I think that's French for "sling the chicken in the casserole dish" (thank you Colemans)

Having a quiet night tonight, the poor missus is working tomorrow 8-5 She'll probably be in bed by 10pm but will no doubt get up and peek out of the window when the fireworks start going off at midnight

I have four bottle of Irish Whiskey to ease the loneliness, unfortunately they are all miniatures, not even a mouthful in each

On a brighter note after returning from the Fairburn meet last Tuesday I found the wife busy giving the kitchen cupboards a good clean and tidy, she'd found a forgotton litre bottle of Bells right at the back of a corner unit

Have a good evening everyone and Happy New Year.

We ate a while ago too - steengrillen, - lots of little bits of meat, fish and veggies cooked on a hot stone. We were going to BBQ but the weather is so dreich ( like tonight's telly ) that we decided on the steengrill instead.

Fireworks have been going off for days here but got worse from 10 am when they were legal. Midnight will be a nightmare. €67million up in smoke this year - crisis? what crisis?

Not sure if we'll stay up or not. Jools is set to record, he has a Dutch singer on tonight too.

Happy New Year to you all.
