A quick tip on how to spend a grand in 2 days;
1 - buy a lens
2 - repair car
3 - health care i.e. dentist
I think that sums it up ( sorry for the pun)

Hmm... sounds like my week. I've done the same since Wednesday, but opted out of the expensive car repair and replaced it instead (fortunately the dentist was cheap, though)!

Mr Spider - the only person that normally uses that lappy is my elder daughter - I use a Mac
My grandson will also discover [ and this is yet to be organised with IT Support ] that at some point while he's on the lappy my IT support guy will also be logged into it
NOT only that but my IT support lives in London and will deal with my grandson if necessary
This could be fun
Elder daughter didn't like AVAST so when she was up last time she uninstalled it and put on AVG - and that seems to have missed a nasty which was only found by IT 2 weeks ago when doing updates for me - AVAST is now back on and AVG removed .
Whether or not the lappy is in use - it'a checked over every month , for safety.
Lappy is all updated , swept absolutely squeaky clean and will stay that way

I've used AVG in the past but found it started getting to bloated and slowed the system down.
I now use Avira Free, no problems and it updates itself everyday.
As it just has done now putting a notice screen over this whilst i was typing, still...
Sun is out, little fan is whirring away, hope you're getting this in Glasgow TT.

Don't underestimate Windows Security Essentials, also free and quite capable.
AVG used to be good but did start to slow things down quite a bit.
Norton was IMHO horrible....

MSE on my netbook, Avast on my PC. Quite happy with both.
Have fun with your grandson TT. Hopefully you can drag him away from the computer occasionally .

How's your tiny doing Gwyn ?
My grandson will be spending plenty of time outside - weeding - washing down the concrete , visiting the Riverside Museum etc etc . He'll only get at the lappy in the evenings
I'm dreading feeding him though - his mother describes her 3 as Fridge hoovers

Merlijn was nervous by Timber yesterday, but soon got over it. We are just back from celebrating his mother's birthday and he was on fine form today, as was his younger brother.
I know what you mean about fridge Hoovers. Teenage boys have an unending appetite. I used to buy 3 loaves of bread a day when my three were teenagers- they'd eat one each and still want more.

Must be some time since you experienced Norton, John. I stopped using Norton for a while myself, but since the 2010 edition NIS (Norton Internet Security) is working like a dream.Norton was IMHO horrible....
As NIS is offered free of charge from my ADSL provider, I thought I might as well give it a try again, and I have not been disappointed.
