Upon a hill
There stood a cow
It's must have gone
It's no' there now!

The God of Thunder thundered by,
Upon his Arab filly.
"I'm Thor", he cried.
The horse replied:
"Well, try a thaddle, thilly".

Yesterday upon the stairs
I met a man who wasn't there
He isn't there again today
I wish that man would go away
from the dim distant days of my childhood - from whence it came I know not

The American Poet - Hughes Mearns
Bernard
2nd verse
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!

Our three year old side by side American style fridge/freezer developed a fault where the freezer fan stopped working and there was an Antartic sized ice flow at the bottom and no ice cube making at the top. Daewoo customer service couldn't recommend anyone to repair it but I discovered Comet had a fixed price deal.
Man arrives and without doing much declares the motherboard dead and orders one from Korea, six week wait.
Wrong part arrives and another six week wait.
The motherboard is bigger and more complex looking than the one in your PC.
Part fitted and wait two days to discover it still isn't working.
They then decide to replace all the temperature sensors, you've guessed it, they're OOS and have to come from Korea so another six weeks. They arrive but Comet lose them so another delay.
At last they're fitted and it still doesn't work.
Comet guy arrives and declares the machine unrepairable because the insulation material has disintegrated. A likely tale I think. They did refund the money.
In a very long internet search I find on some DIY forum someone with exactly the same tale only with Currys. He gave a link to the Daewoo site in Chile where you can download the English engineers manual where I get the diagnostic codes. The fan motor had packed in.
Next day delivery from eSpares and £32 later I have the part which I fitted in ten minutes using one scewdriver. I fixed it in 24 hours and Comet couldn't in six months.
Loads of ice in the Pimms tonight, bliss.
