Another pointless thread

As opposed to around here, where you get overtaken by a motorbike as though you're standing still...then a few bends later find the road's closed because they've decided to take a closer look at the landscape but forgot to slow down first...

..and pushed my insurance up anothr £10!!

Born again bikers, they never learn.

I went to insure my old BMW650 a few years back, I ride a bike every day at work, did that count?

No chance!

Because I hadn't had MY OWN POLICY for a few years I was a born again biker and got quoted between £650 and £1780!!!

Thank the lord for classic bike insurance, I paid £120 for a limited milage policy which is now down to £ 85, thanks to full NCB.

Jackie and myself were planning to get a Harley each but I have just been reminded why we changed our minds. Saw two horrendous crashes on my way to the airport in Doha this morning. The driving there is the worst I have ever seen.

Also just had two Buddhas we bought in Thailand seized by customs as illegal religious icons. Just arrived in the UK a day late as they wouldn't let me leave the country because my exit permit had expired. A week here and two in Cyprus and hopefully I will be ready for another stint back in the sandpit.

Which customs seized the Buddhas? Our daughter brought one back from Spain, no bother

I guess the Qatari customs. Buddhas are legal in the UK - lots of Buddhists would be complaining otherwise!

I recently looked at insurance quotes for a Subaru Forester Turbo and was getting £1000 quotes on cars priced at £1500. Is it any wonder people don't bother with it...

Thailand appears to have a very nasty backward little government who need a good slap IMO.

Spider - yes they do. Many Muslim countries do, not only Qatar.

Don't worry about it 'spider.

We live in a very liberal country where such questions are tolerated and religious beliefs openly practiced.

If we were in other parts of the world though, I wouldn't answer the door if I were you!

The answer to that is yes. The countries one Christian church is not allowed crucifixes either. And I don't see how quoting fact can be construed as inflammatory

Please don't let this develop into a religious argument - that's out of bounds on PU.

I guess it's perceived as Idolatrous?

Don't worry John no intention of that just a bit miffed that the two very beautiful (and quite expensive) statues we bought have been confiscated when all we wanted them for was as very nice ornaments.
