What is this garden maintenance of which you speak?
If it is dark during the day I know the lawn needs cutting.

Lawn maintenance is easy here up north.
We just sweep the leaves off the decking that atnds where the soggy excuse for grass used to be!

Oh it's nice to be back I'll agree
Yes there was still some Guinness left in Dublin when I flew out
I didn't visit the Storeroom
I was actually only in Dublin touristy spots on Tuesday and Wednesday the rest of the time I was in the Clonliffe area and either sleeping or occupied.
We have had lovely weather - not always sunny - but warm enough and apart from a few drops of rain one day it's been dry .
Spent a couple of hours in the Botanic Gardens the morning I left - since my camera bag was packed I didn't take it and actually regretted it . That will be for further exploration next year . Nice restaurant there BTW - lovely food
I'm trying to get up enough energy to go and get my cards and start having a look at what I did get - sorry guys , a lot of the stuff is Church related - but I do have some pics of Dublin itself .

With apologies to non-UKers, is this Friday's bank holiday potentially the best ever?
Whilst my spouse plonks herself in front of the TV all day for the crown pleaser, I'll have (for once) unfettered permission to take myself, my K7 and my vaguely republican leanings off wherever I choose. Although I'm likely to have a dog and 12 year old in tow... depending on how they feel about constitutional monarchy.

Many happies Barrie.
Just watching Top Gun - a bit of a guilty pleasure. Some fabulous film of fast jets tearing around, but I would hope anyone with an aircraft background could find at least 1 mistake in each three minutes of flying footage.
Apparently ejector seat designers get very intense about the bit where Goose smacks his head on the canopy while ejecting. They spent a very long time making sure the ejector seat wouldn't fire unless the canopy was completely clear of the aircraft for just that reason...Many happies Barrie.

I just watched large chunks of it and thought "I've seen photos/video of a Vulcan doing that stunt, which was much more impressive!"
As for Friday I plan to get well clear of what passes for civilisation. I wouldn't mind knowing where the street parties are though, so I can plan a route to some interesting wilderness without having to retrace my steps because a main street is closed!

No brainer to find you Friday then Matt - on the shores of the reservoir on or close to the Elan Dam.
If the weather's good, might just wander up that way myself - the Qashqai need a good run. Been a while since I been that way - preferred the cross country route over to Aberystwyth when I had business in that part of the world. Some good photo ops further on into the hills IRRC.

Friday's just another day at work for me.
Mind, I'm getting overtime for working on a Bank Holiday..

Nothing like that on the seat I used to work with (Martin Baker Mk10). Normally the canopy would be shattered by an explosive charge (the black zig-zag line you see on fast jet canopies). If this failed I was told the ejection seats could punch through it (1" polycarbonate IIRC)
