A bit more serious than two wheels falling off. It looks as though he started braking and his front suspension completely disintegrated. I know these cars are on a knife edge between strength and lightness but it sounds as though they've come down on the wrong side.

Re Buemi's crash:
The front upright broke which led to the left upright breaking. The wheels are tethered to the parts that broke which is why they flew off. They were new parts never previously used.
Great photo of it on the BBC site.

Sorry Dave, I new it was a poor line but I couldn`t stop meself. Had a good plate of pasta tonight. Carbo loading for tomorrow. Grass looks like it needs a trim over here in Suffolk. Well quiet, we live beneath a flight path. Not a problem but surprising how you notice the lack of noise.
Our Springwatch free twig has leaves and is now only about 4 inches shorter than it`s supporting cane. Good to have been part of the reforrestation of England.

Strangely there's no aircraft noise here either.
We live close to Leeds Bradford Airport.
Has anybody looked up at a perfect sky, no 'con' trails at all this evening, the picture I took was just blue, nothing else, wierd.

Ah! But can you have an upright on the left side?

What's worse, I know someone who works in Toro Rosso's wind tunnel. I suspect they'll be doing a lot of all-nighters until they work out precisely what let go and redesign it.
