Fad or no, it sold quite well when it first arrived in the UK (or so my local Nissan dealer told me when I was hovering in the vicinity of their display model)

The real deal didn't let me down in the winter snows - sailed through where my faithful old Picasso would have come to a wheel spinning halt.

I'll admit to being sad to see our old Picasso go, but with 96000 on the clock it's time to let her go.

As for winter driving the boss took our old 'cassie everywhere with out a hitch.

I just hope the new girl is as good, she should be..

My new works bike now sports a natty blue and yellow hi-viz livery, it's all part of the job...

Seems daughter#1 had a fun morning at work

Anyone that owns a Prius take note

Quote:
'm having a nightmare with the pool cars today. My girl that runs the pool cars is off today, so over to me. Twit left the interior light on a Prius (petrol/electric hybrid) overnight, so flat battery this morning.

OK, get the car started by the AA, and then send it out with someone to put some charge back in. Ah, not only did he leave the light on but where's the fuel card for it? Bleep - the twit has left it at his home!!

Went down to the car to find out if enough petrol left in it to be of any use. Ah, can't get into the car, even using a good old fashioned key because the battery can't turn the locks.

Grr.

But this car is now blocking in another car that I need to go out today, but as I can't get into it, I can't even push it out of the way.

Just explained to the manager of the idiot what he has done. His excuse was that he wasn't familiar with the car - he didn't like my retort of isn't that all the more reason to check before you walk away?

Meanwhile, I've had to hire in a car to cover the one that is blocked in, and have had to arrange for the non start to be recovered to a dealer on Monday. Explained to the manager of the twit that I will be recovering the costs from him. Oh well, he can cover the £50 quid. The reaction when I pointed out that it will be nearer £700 was quite interesting!

Most cars are ugly at the moment.

The only 'normal'car I like is the Fiat 500, but it would dent my machismo to drive one.

My Puma is starting to get a bit long in the tooth and I am at a loss as to what to replace it with. I am thinking Celica or MR2 or MX5, but to be honest if I could find a decent Puma. I don't know what possessed Ford to stop them when they did. The thought of one with a modern 2L turbo diesel---

I would have the biggest pain with an electric car was having to flip it on its roof and lift up the wee compartment to change the batteries!

Does it take double A's so you can get a fresh set anywhere?

My Qashqai handles the snow pretty well, I think its the Chunky deep tread Continentals that help, It might be more fun when there down to 1.6mm and in need of replacement

HG - your Picasso was hardly run in - px'd mine with 138000 on the clock. Poor old girl spent 7 years on the daily commute to Swindon (78m/day), mostly the M4 (which isn't one of life's most interesting motorways ). Still usually got 40000 from the front boots and a tad over 70000 from the rear.

Seriously glad that phase of my career ended in July 08. Price of diesel now is double what it was when I started on 2002. Thought of 3 tank fulls a month just doesn't bear thinking about (averaged 56mpg up til end of July 08 from new :lol.

I know there's plenty of life in the old girl yet, but things are starting to need replacing. That and I still think she's high milage for a petrol engine.

I don't want to pay £120 for a dash light replacing!

So we bit the bullet and went for a 110 BHP diesel with 6 speed manual box.

The boss is just getting ready to go and collect it.

Back OT (Off Topic?) the last load of wood for this year arrived at 9:30 and is now stacked ready for next winter.

My back aches!

I'm almost packed for Monday morning's departure to Dublin .

Argh ---- persuading Aer Lingus Site to let me check in and print my Boarding Pass was interesting . It did NOT like Safari - the box to check for checking in didn't exist .

Once I switched to FF I was OK - but the experience was not appreciated.

Now I have to wait for my mate to get back from Blackpool this evening so I can start on the printing of the papers we are taking . They may not be ready till Sunday

I foresee a busy Sunday evening.

It's all relative - my current car now sports 202,000 miles on the clock. Granted, it's now on its second petrol engine, but overall still everything is in good nick.

The his 'n hers K5s took priority.
Best regards, John
